Psst!

Psst!

Mandappa KC (107)

"Psst. I love you."

She was seated 4 chairs away. Her silken hair falling across her face. The faint lighting shone from the stage out front. The opera was gaining momentum. Emotion swept through the theatre as Romeo professed his love. Emotion flew. Emotion stirred. The crowd sat in rapture. So did he.

Staring shamelessly at her. She had swept him off his feet the moment she entered. A fleeting thought of all the dirty lechers he'd scorned. Yet he leched. Leched like never before. At her damsel lips, her attentive eyes. The cashmere stole wrapped carelessly, daintily. He leched.

She turned and glowered. "Psst, fuck off."

Elle led me to the shallow stream.

"There", she squeaked.

I nodded. The stream led into a dungeon.

"You're doing this, Prince?"

One last wink at the mouse, I sneaked in.

The dungeon evolved into a thundering underground waterfall.

Random steps down; I found the beast deep in slumber. Its huge breathing form created ripples in the water.

I hooked an arrow. Aimed, pulled, released.

STRIKE ONE.

The giant FROG woke with a cry.

Lunar eyes found the tiny rebellion.

Long tongue lashed out. My bow fell apart.

Not done yet, fat arse.

Shield and sword, I ran towards it.

It leaped high....its flight covered the distance...and fall about to squash me...

"Psst....FourB.....pleeeassse???"

I looked down.

4B. Define Photosynthesis?

"Psst!"... Dreams Calling

Mutihued multitude, bright purple balloons, dazzling bangles, ornamented kites, saffron turbans, modest camels and a desire to buy all of these.

"Be quiet or you'd be lost", the customary response to my demands….and then I was. Lost and unmindful in the fair.

"Psst!" and a come-hither look from bright, wrinkled eyes. I turned away. "Psst!" and again.

"Want those twinkling stars?" I nodded. He swooshed them onto my palm… curling it into a fist. "These are dreams", said he with twinkling eyes, “…don't cost anything."

Dad found me, clutched my right hand while in my left sat those stars…

The old man faded, not the stars. I still dare to dream and they call out….. "Psst! We don't cost anything".

Heart 'n Ache

"Why don't you listen to me baby?"

"Now STOP crying...Shhh Shhh"

The mother was valiantly trying to calm down her wailing child.

He had hurt his finger while playing with the door. The tender finger had gone all red, was slightly swollen and the mother's heart wept with the aches the boy must be feeling. The wetness in her eyes threatened to spill over...at the vision of her little boy's trauma.

Psst psst...

The boy turned around...jumped from his mother's lap and scrambled down the stairs wiping his eyes with the back of his hands.

"Mom I'm going to play with Arnav...", tossed at the mother.

A slight smile curved the mother's lips...

Juhi the Fragrant (116)

Eyes wide open,

and a bit of

her mouth too

Charu watched as,

Leena jumped off

her trained kangaroo.

When her snowy trail

had finally reached them,

Charu couldn’t resist

and enquired of Hem

“psst..did you know,

she’s lame?”

His glare quieted her,

but again she piped.

This time to the

lady in white

“psst…are you aware,

of her false hair?”

When the lady

quietly withdrew,

poor Charu,

looked anew.

She spotted Rai,

sipping his chai.

“Psst, did I tell you

she fired her crew?”

“No, how’s her ship?”

“It’s taking a bad trip!”

Hem materialized, and

Charu was quiet.

She informed

a girl’s back,

“psst..Leena lies.”

When she turned,

There was shock

in her eyes.

GSV(118)

Days with you seemed so brief and nights were somehow spent in your dreams. Swinging on the jute rope beneath that banyan tree, we learned together that life is like a song. And then one day you didn’t come to meet. They told me that you had left the town and would never be back. I screamed whole day and wailed all night but my screeching didn't reach you. Months, Seasons, Years passed away and I haven't slept for long, so that night soil immersed into soil. But my wait wasn't over yet, Born again I sprouted through the soil.

Psst.. Hey you! Where are you looking at, sweetheart! Pluck me for your pleasure and release my soul.

Psst….Psst….hey Garima!
-Go away, Dad's at home.
Please come to the terrace.
I want to show you my new bike.

Psst….Psst….hey Garima!
-Not now, Didi's very angry.
Please meet me at the CCD.
I have written a poem for you.

Psst….Psst….hey Garima!
-Keep quite, Papaji is still awake.
Please I want to be alone with you.
Why can't we go for a honeymoon?

Psst….Psst….hey Garima!
-Ssshh…Munna has just slept.

"Psstttt, pssttt, here. Why have you been ignoring me?? At least look at me!"

"Why don't you leave me alone…stop bothering me"

"ohh I bother you now…I remember differently"

"Stop it…stop tempting me. Its not right"

"It is…just reach out, touch me"

"Are you crazy??? I have been working very hard to ignore you…leave me alone" I implored

"What is with you women? You reach and I tingle in anticipation of your warm mouth but then you pull back! You reject me! You are ruining my self esteem"

"And you are ruining my diet" I scowled at the chocolate fudge cake as I straightened my back and walked off…

"Pssssstttt" I heard as he tried to entice another susceptible female!!

Nandini Sen (118)

“Psst” she said, “don’t eat too many sweets”. I didn’t listen and got worms in my tummy.

“Psst, staying up late with storybooks will give you a headache.” She was right – headache and scolding from teacher for being inattentive.

“Psst, just smile, he’ll like you even with the braces”. I didn’t, and went unnoticed by him.

“Psst, ring her up” I did only after two months. She’d moved away. A connection broke.

“Psst, hug him & say sorry”. I didn’t and lost an emotion.

My conscience always whispers in her low pleasant voice, but I act belligerent.

Ohh there she goes again “Psst don’t write in Klash this week .You’re out of ideas”. As usual I’m not listening.

Mickey the Monkey (120)

Psst…Psst….
Who could be there at this hour?
Jane, thinking I was asleep, sneaked out.
I snooped and found Mowgli waiting for her under our tree.
Why was she meeting this chaddhi-clad boy clandestinely?
Soon she came back and slipped in the bed quietly.
Throughout the next day I was disturbed.
I wandered aimlessly in the jungle, and retuned home quite late.
From a distance I saw my tree glowing.
It was decorated with candles and balloons.
Jane was talking to Mowgli excitedly.
I wondered what were they up to.
"Happy Birthday, Mickey" they exclaimed.
"Thanks buddy, but when did you plan all this."
"Mowgli talked to me while you were asleep, Honey, he wanted to give you a surprise."

Priyanka Chakraborty (119)

"Psst..psst..!! Anil..psst.."

"Whaaaaat??"

"We'll meet after class, and decide.."

"Shh..Rishi sir'll hear.."

"Psst.. Sahil please pass this note to Anil."

"Marwayega kya Nitin!!"

"Sir's not looking, pass kar de."

Rishi was not oblivious to what was going on behind his back, but he tried not to react. He chuckled to himself. He was remembering his schooldays when he and his friends used to pass notes in class and whisper endlessly.

But this was military school. Discipline had to be maintained. With a heavy sigh, he turned from the blackboard and said, "Sahil, Anil, Nitin! Out of the class, right now and three rounds of the field."

Sahil gave Nitin a dirty look and said, "Ab kar psst, psst.. Idiot..!!"

Coffee is my poison (120)

Pssst...whats that voice i hear?

Psst...Sweta, it said,
from the deep confines
within my head.
heres free counsel
you'd normally dread.

pssst...always be polite
to the seemingly small
thelewala,plumber,watchman et al
everyone deserves respect!
no job's that abject.

psst...you're free
do what your heart says,
you alone reap eventually,
the fruit of your inabilities,
to say no, trying so hard to please.

psst...take time
smell flowers, pet dogs,
feel the sunshine!
pittering pattering raindrops...

psst...
wrong decision!
but the textbook says so,
listen to the inside,
on which you can rely,
proclivity's magic wand….

psst...whos out there?
its a dark night, i'm alone,
say something
sounds seem louder
shapes odder.

psst... have faith
listen to me
I’m the real you
hear me out
see yourself fly!

Konfessioner Singh (71)

This sight is tender:

A plump peach blossom
snuggles,
with a blush,
into a brown bosom;
peeking every now and then--
from under dew tickled
tapering green leaf tips
magic green carpets on billows of dawn breeze.

And another,
now embraces velvet pink pale sunshine,
yawning luminosity…

And this one here,
is quivering softly,
so softly...
Hidden in chiaroscuro--
before flighty spring,
kisses sweetly;
its pursed pink lips…

“Psst… I’m here.”

hey whats this with entries in Hindi not up for kompetition?? yeh faisla kab hua aur kyon?? i will be blunt..i dont like it! most of us here understand Hindi and those who dont have ample other choices to vote and komment on!!

Doc sa'ab...yeh Pseudonym nahi hai...Krishna is his real name...a frnd of mine, who does not know I have entered on his behalf. please do komment everyone..it owuld be good for his morale!!

A little background info on my Klash…vaise to its pretty self explanatory but you would enjoy it more if you knew more…so here goes..
In my office there are always some goodies lying around. It’s a huge office like all corporate offices are and when I am walking form one place to another I would suddenly come across a table/ kitchen area/ corners full of cakes/ cookies/ muffins/chips/ soda….infact during the x-mas season I had started calling one of the areas as the “sin table”. So this was my conversation with one of the cakes that I encountered hiding just around the corner on a small table on the way to the water cooler!!!

I loved the vernacular entry...Christ! Krishna has won...haha...how i wish he used the vernacular for Psst too...haha!

But u guys are seriously Geniuses..I mean ispe bhi itna likh daala...haha!

however am still awaiting Mickey ka take. Am sure he'd make gud use of the word!

Arrey Empress, its from GSV's suggestions last time... we can't have on kompetition in 2 languages naa???

Cock-a-doodle-doo
आक्छी -Atichoo
भौ भौ -woof woof
तो psst का भी कुछ हिन्दी अनुवाद होगा ही

Mickey said...

And Empress Richa Didi, hindi is such a beautiful language , and becomes more so when read between 11 english takes. So it gets undue advantage.
Two languages kan not be kompared in one kompetition.
This issue was raised before too, and Shinjini Singh had then suggested that a parallel Blog be made for Hindi lovers. There are many people in the LBC who are willing to join.
Why not you take the initiative and start a hindi Klash ( or will that be भिडंत )

arey yaar i did not know that the suggestion has been made into the rule...can we not have this as a rule after vote. any Mickey ji pehle bhi kai baar hindi mein entry hui hain and people have chosed not to vote for them...so I dont think it gets any undue advantage infact it gets a disadvantage as many just dont get it.
anyway since i write in hindi many times as well in english i would ofcourse oppose this decision!!

16 entries this week! Missy Baba khush hui!! :D

14 people say they want komments and votes..I'm one of 'em.. so it's klear..! Komment and vote karna zaroori hai..Blah Kween ko mai personally maroongi, dharna karne mein sabse aage, klash karne mein gaayab! :D

Okay komments komin' up....!

1. Mandi-- Haha, loved this.. and the lady does seem rather luminous and pretty... ! Good idea too, next time someone acts smart with the psst, pssting...I must add this to the blank noise blog haha.

2. Sarang-- My winner this week! You have my vote! (and not just because you participated haha.. :) It's so good to have you back...big big big jhappi!

This is something I like, (not an open zipper...KAVEESH zip it!! uff!) haha..but, the experimenting! It's plain kreativity...which is why I'd love to see more people writer shorter and "differenter" including myself! :(.

3. Willy-- Good to have you back too! I'm glad I didn't know today was Friday and accepted all your entries people haha... Elle the mouse things a frog is a dragon! that is SO cool..also, I'd have liked this even more if you were dissecting a frog...but 4.B. (cheating!!!!!) was a cool end too! except maybe instead of photosynthesis it could've been "Draw a diagram of the ailmentary canal of a Bombina Bombina (fire bellied toad)" why bombina bombina, because you'd exert your mind and self to come up with something creative and different...like a dragon breathes fire, here's a fire bellied frog with a cool name! Bombina Bombina! and all it requires is some wikipediaing!

4. Kavish-- Already told you how much I like this and if I can possibly see those stars..!!! "Modest camels" and "he with twinkling eyes" stood out beautifully..amongst a medley of a possible and vivid childhood memories.

5.Rush.me-- Interesting, so they knew each other before they liked each other? that was a quick liking secession! haha... I would've like a Priety Zinta "Are you a virgin" version too haha.

6. Heady Concoction-- Good to see you again! :) Wow, Arnav's psst pssting around here without even klashing...klever I say...very very klever haha. Oh I liked the way the finger hurt, (no seriously!) because the reason made me wince too! and that in itself is an achievement, whenever a writer comes up with something the reader can associate with...! good one! :)

7. To be kontd... ;)

Missy Baba said...

Empress, I can always keep the rule up for a poll... We've only had 3-4 Hindi entries.. I am working on starting a Hindi blog for the klash too :)

But I'm sure people will komment on the entry irrespective of its language...?!

Another thing...new members, who have not met Sarang yet.. Sarang is a delightfully hilarious writer, a very dear friend and one the three founding persons (can't say fathers!) of KNK, which include Nikhil and me.. :) Sarang has also penned a book which will be published sometime soon Inshallah and has been working on some really kool kartoons (in Marathi) with a character named Robin Mundo (maybe I got that wrong..:( sorry!)

So there goes..! :)

Missy Baba said...

God I think I'll write all the komments I kan per second today..my brain has drained!!!! :D

(Krishna here) Thanks people for the warm welcome, and before I can respond to any comments, I did see Richa on my side tapping away to glory about us. So I dare not Klash there.

As for Missy Baba's "People will komment on an entry regardless of the language", I have to ask where is your komment?

A little intro might be in order, esp because I may be holding the crown of the most lazy person around here. Just that through a constant hearing of(and marvelling at) Klash entries for the past several months (largely through Richa, but some through my own reading: it is addictive to see how strange words are lent a whole new meaning with Klash), I did happen to stumble across a piece of my mind psst pssting me into this. So there it is.

Ha ha Sarang sirjee !!

as the snow falls outside (its already more than 6") and Krishna and I sip our hot teas and fight and giggle...here I am in the wonder land of Klash and here are my "wonderful" komments ;)

Sir Mandy: kya palta maara hai beedu..from the lady like angel to the sailor's language...but is merely looking "leching"??

Mooshak Simba: loved it too much!! simple, effective and s'thing all u guys can identify with!! hahaha

Willy: hope this is not what you did in your exams eh?? but loved the giant frog nad not the customary dragon!! and really liked the way a "psst" totally got you out of the whole dream!!

Kavish: dreams saying "psst" wow!! another novel idea that i would never think of!! liked your use of metaphoric lost!!

Rush.me: you have written much better..this somehow lacked the "psst" ness!!

Heady Concoction: nicely portrayed the pain..a finger stuck in the door is really painful esp in winters...just got mine int he car door and it pained like hell..wish i could have bawled my eyes ou and wish there was someone to "psst" me..

Juhi: u seem to be one consistent writer. lovely start and rhyming was very good. wonder what Charu had againt Leena??!!lol the ending phased out a little.

GSV: sirji lagta hai u tried stepping into Mickey's shoes!! playing on ropes..hope not with his Jane?!! ;)

Doc sab: depicting a life long love (kahin yeh aapki woh to nahi) and also depicting the mundane that always comes in the way of romance!! very well done sirji

Krishna: didnt know you had it in you to write, it was a wonderful surprise..
the begining was very good, the language poetic but the end tapered off to being filmy

Myself: ab apni tareef mein kya kahoon..teeheeheee aap log hi kar dena meri tareef!! i have already given the background story behind this and i tell you people...this is a sore test of my control..every day!!!

Nandini: "psst" from the conscience..very well done. i thought it was your mother but i liked the idea. After Kaveesh yours in another very novel take.

Mickey: so Mowgli se jhagda nahi kiya?? am sure agar yeh hi GSV hota to tum to use maar hi daalte...Mowgli ko kyon nahi i wonder??!! :) kya Mickey ka janam din wakai aa raha hai??

Priyanka: welcome back. what a nice entry. we have all done this havent we??!! loved your last line..mein hoti to ek do "vernacular" gaaliyaan bhi jod deti jaise "saale"

CIMP: nice voice of the conscience but it lacked the originality you have shown yourself to be capable of

Princess: the coming of the spring..what a wonderful scene. esp to me who awaits the season after the bleakness of the wintry landsape!!

Shukla said...

And I suddenly realized I asked Missy for Komments, but was getting lazy in Kommenting myself. So, in my humble opinion, unmoderated by the lady on my side, here it is.

Mandappa: Personally, it hasn't been long (several years but seems like yesterday) since I was the participant in the scene, only that my empress is sitting beside me now. But I love the twist.

Sarang: You have the atom bomb. Hope the klash entry had nothing to do with a recent occurence around you. :-)) . Please tell us..

Willy Wingfoot: your entry immediately reminded me of the numerous daydream sequences of Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) in his class; hilarious, eminently deserving of a movie clip around the scene...

Kavish: I think your Klash entry will remain with me for quite some time...Only that I had to read your work a few times before I could get really wrapped with them all around me. There goes my carefully preserved vote.

Rush.Me: I could quite imagine your vivid buildup, but got lost in the last few lines, not sure whether I understood it right.

Heady Concoction: reminds me how heady children's feelings can get.

Juhi: a very good twist, particularly good.

GSV: A very poignant love tale, and a very sacred one.

to be contd:

Hi & Hello everyone.
Great to read such super duper stuff........Psst(the whisper is growing louder)- Klash rocks!!!

OK here goes my Komments & Vote -

Mandappa - Heeheehee. Loved the girl's reaction....just wondering how difficult it must've been for Romeo to do a "Psst" with his jaw almost dropping to the ground. I mean it must be difficult to get the sound out with your mouth wide open :-))
Nice one.

Sarang - This is brilliant :-)) Short, apt & just gets the meaning of the word out brilliantly. JUst trying to picture the person uttering those words :-)) Was it you?

WillW'foot - Wow, this time's Klash is filled with mirth...great twist at the end. Psst stop dreaming when trying to write an answer sheet - looks like the 4B walla question almost did squash you just like the giant frog :-))

Kavish - Great, great stuff - magical. Hold on to your starts man....never let them go. Dream on.

RushM - Nice build up - end is slightly filmy :-))Next probably the girl will poke the guy & say "Psst - thoda bold hon ey ko mangta na - pyar hua toh Psst karke kyun bol rahein ho" :-)) (just joking)....you fitted in your Psst pretty well in the scene.

HeadyC - Aww poor baby....a timely psst by his friend helped ease the pain. NIce writeup.

Juhi - Gossipy Charu!!!! Hey you brought out the theme real well ....nice take.

GSV - Looks like you're trying to write another poem, but in prose. Sir G, looks like you're like an eternal romantic at heart - how do you manage to romanticize every piece you write in Klash?
"Pluck me for your pleasur & release my soul"...wow!!! awesome play of words. Psst - I think you're a natural poet.

DokSaab - Nice one - Garima's life story in whispers!!! Really liked the way you wrapped up an entire lifetime in your piece.

NonsSens said...

Komments continue -

Krishna - Welcome.
Sorry, I should actually comment in Hindi for you, but my Hindi's kinda funny - so I'll stick to a language I can express myself better in -
Never thought that "Psst, Psst" could gel so well with the theme you chose to write on. Really well crafted.Psst Psst looks so odd, yet fits in perfectly. Great.
Looking forward to reading more of your Klashes.

RichG - Hmmmmm - sooo soo true. I also try to ward of Mr.Chocolate's evil designs - but fail miserably.....Just his sight & my resolutions go for a toss (is this true love?? :-))...BTW, I loved your nomenclature in your explanation - "SinTable"....hahahaha.
I'd say its really well written - an everyday battle very innovatively put. Voting is getting difficult. Sigh!!!!

MickeyM - Happy B'day - with such great friends as Mowgli & Jane, your life should be rocking. Psst - jealousy aint good - dont suspect poor old Jane - she cares so much for you......As usual your piece entertains. Keep it up.

Priyanka - Heeey - well written. Loved the last line "Ab kar psst, psst" :-)) YOur piece brought back school life memories. Nicely potrayed Psst.

CIMP - Hey, looks like you & I thought alike about the Psst.
Though your "real you" whispers more to you. Nice stuff......and its always wise to listen to your inner Psst.

Konf(es)S - Wow....resplendent nature, being brought out in splendour. Konf, need I say it - you write beautifully.
PS - somehow GSV & your takes are a wee bit similar.

Now my Vote....sigh the most difficult part (as usual).....
Kavish, Richa, Sarang????? Who who who.
OK my vote goes to (sound the trumpets) - Sarang
for sheer innovation & creativity.
Many of the writeups were beautiful, poetic & well crafted....but I think Sarang's stood out in innovativeness & apt potrayal of the word.

Hi all ! my Komments (in alphabetical order)
Coffee is my poison…..
Good idea, your conscience whispering what I am sure is your own outlook towards life. Well done. Also you were within 120 words without Shinjini Singh’s editing, or did she?
GSV…..
Beautiful love story, the last line was the best,Pluck me for your pleasure and release my soul.
Heady Concoction …..
I feel before anything else, these pseudonyms should be banned. Hello Heady Concoction sounds so weird. Why kant we just use our first names(or nick names) here.
Loved your take Trapti, being a pediatritian, I have observed kids from very klose. There pain , most of the times is to seek attention. Very nice use of the word.
Juhi the Fragrant …..
Reminds me of the Alice in wonderland, very different, surreal take.
Kavish Sinha…..
Not able to find an adjective to describe your take, beautiful appears too little. Very nice depiction of a very childish activity, daydreaming. Brilliant Kavish.
Krishna …..
Hello Sir, So Richa got you addicted too. You write very well. Kyaa Jodi hai!! both of you are poets. I would have voted for you, but I am running the campaign for a separate Klash in Hindi, so I will not vote for you here.
Konfessioner Singh …..
Such a colourful kanvas, with spring whispering its arrival, only you kan visualize. I am still waiting to read Le Bistro 7
Mandappa KC …..
The whispered intention and whispered rejection, and all the leeching in between, good one Mandappa.
Mickey the Monkey …..
ha ha Monkey!!
Stop being suspicious Monkey, Jane has proven time and again, that she cares for you only.
Nandini Sen …..
Once again the heart whispering advices which the brain always ignores. Brilliant !!
Priyanka Chakraborty …..
Psst pssting in the class room, good take, took me back to my college days. Our Physics teacher, Nippu, had very sharp ears :).
Richa Gupta …..
haha cakes tempting the office females, how easy it is to tempt females, just few pastries kould do the trick. I too cant resist this temptation, but never heard those pastries whisper.
Kompeting with your hubby, must be feeling great.
Rush.me…..
Lovely take, rush.me, but I don’t think this happens now, with chats scraps and mobile phones, no need to psst psst.
Sarang Mahajan …..
My Vote…..what else do you want for a five word take :)
Willy Wingfoot…..
After a long time Willy Rangan Wingfoot, how was the cat.
Day dreaming in the midst of an exam, this happens when you go unprepared.

So I have Kommented on 100% Takes, (even the vernacular one), and I would expect each to reciprocate.

Mickey said...

Namaste Jijaji !!, now I know why Richa didi was so strongly advocating about Hindi Takes

Sarang Mahajan said...

It feels really great to be back amongst friends. I hope to be a regular now. Here are my komments -

Mandi: That will be a cool scene to watch on big screen. “Psst… I love you!!” Hehehe. A cool take! And very well written as usual!

Willy Wingfoot: I can relate so strongly with this. Fantasy is my life and exams used to suck big-time. Have left so many papers half blank. Nice flow, a fast and smooth style of writing here. Nice one.

Kaveesh: You must have enjoyed writing this one, didn’t you? I don’t know how much stress the theme word has received here, but it is a beautiful imagination adeptly worded. A dreamy take on dreams!

Rush.Me: Hello there!! We haven’t met before, I guess!! You have quite an artistic yet simple to grasp style of writing. In limited words, you have raised a good scene. A big leap in the fifth paragraph, the story moves swiftly with details, yet so less words used. Enjoyed reading it!

Thank you Dok Saab, I think I have to get down to writing Le Bistro 7 just for you! :)

Thank you Nandini... I'll have to read GSV's entry to know for sure..! and Empress, I'm glad you liked this! :)

Votes SO far-- (Juhi, you must vote by 6 today especially!!!)

1. Sarang-- 3 [Dok saab+Nandini+Me]

Missy Baba said...

Komments kontd...

7. Juhi-- Explain! haha, what was exciting was the use of Indian names in an alien-circus-space shipish entry...! I'd like insight into this one!!!

8.GSV-- Very interesting, is this about a tree and a child? That would make it a beautiful story... if you added "I wailed with the winds" and something to that effect, it'd have been even prettier! But you do have a beautiful mind :).

9. Dok Saab-- oh this is SO cute! they got married haha..Garima was one hell of a coy girl wasn't she.. :) This "psst" has been a part of our lives too, from class to our wedded lives I guess...it just always stays with us. A beautiful growth...I thoroughly enjoyed watching it unfold and it ended happily too!

10. Geek Jeej-- ek din uske sureele swar main woh rakt-pipasu aatmain bhool jayeingi woh mandir ke jhagde aur masjid ke vivad Aisa Iran, Waisa Korea: chup ho jayenge woh Shankhnaad Aur Dharti se ambar tak, Uttar se Dakshin tak, Poorab se Paschim tak goonjegi pyar ki ek aawaz psst psst What I was waiting for, was an entry that talked of whispering winds...and yours does they say nature has many messages, only if we listen. You have captured everything strongly towards the end, at the beginning when you spoke of the sprout and the dhaara of water..that was an unforgettable image...beautifully captured, a meaningful poem and a great first entry!

11.kontinuing...!

Why is she spreading rumours about her?
Why didn’t Leena train a monkey instead of a Kangaroo?

8. GSV ----
Very heart touching take, Mr Virmani.
You knew, the Hindi takes would not be up for voting, didn’t you, GSV Jee.

Mickey said...

9. Dok Saab ----
DokSaab, if you’ll not become bold enough, you’ll waste your remaining life too doing Psst Psst

Mickey said...

10. Krishna ----
Your poem reminds me of a popular Hindi song, only that in the song it was ILU ILU instead of Psst Psst.

Jeejaa jee, psst psst to phusphusaahat hotee hai aapne usko bhee buland karke gunjaa diya, wah.
From nature, to religious fanaticism, to Iran to Korea, to north to south, you have said so much in a 120 word kavita.

Mickey said...

11. Richa Gupta ----
Why was this chocolate cake enticing females only.
Nice take, Richa di, but if I vote for you, Jeejaa jee will get complexed, and I cant vote for him (refer to the rulebook of Klash), so I am sorry this time.

Mickey said...

12. Nandini Sen ----
Suno sabkee , karo apne man ki,
but then you are not even listening to your conscience. Is it because your conscience just whispers when it should roar.

Mickey said...

13. Priyanka Chakraborty ----
Most apt use of the word, Priyanka jee.

Mickey said...

14. Coffee is my poison ----
Once again , conscience whispering . And yours seem to be a very noble conscience, not fit for this 21st century.
Telling you to be polite with people, your politeness will be taken as your weakness.

Mickey said...

15. Konfessioner Singh ----
Very timely poem,
I can see your poem taking shape in my jungle,
I can even hear the whispering of the approaching spring.

Mickey said...

The Vote
If it was for using the word most number of times, Krishna (14 times) would have been the winner followed by DokSaab (12 times).
If it was for the longest, Richa (with five Ss and four Ts )would have been the winner.
If we consider literary value, Konfessioner Singh’s poem is way ahead of the rest,
If innovation is the criteria, Sarang is the winner.
But if I vote without giving any reason, just because I want to vote,
Its to Heady Concoction (that is Trapti)

Mickey said...

Sarang Mahajan said...

Heady Concoction: Very different thinking. This theme wouldn’t have promised an interesting take to me, but you have done a nice job. It has come out well. A little psst psst from a friend stands above mother’s efforts. That’s how children are.

Juhi: Being a great fiction/fantasy fan, I have to confess I liked the pictures you created here, using your very artistic style of writing and apt detailing, but I failed to grasp the soul of it. May be I’ll have to read it again. But I quite liked the character of the girl, and the idea that she rides a kangaroo. Nice imagination here.

GSV: Brother, more than your klash, what makes me happy here is the way you are writing now. You have set an example for everyone - impossible is nothing! I am really happy to read this very nice and perfect peace of writing from you. You were always brilliant with imagination, but now you are wonderful with wording as well. Hats off to you man!!

Dok Saab: Really cool!! When I finished reading it, I had a smile on my face. I really love this style of yours - always a touch of humor, brilliant flow and always, always a nice theme.

Krishna: Welcome to the klash, Sir ji! Have heard a lot (everything good) about you from Richa, and it is really nice to have you amongst us. I loved your kavita, especially the second line. The whole of it is nice as well, though I did not understand few words.

Psst.. I used to score badly in Hindi!

Hut Hut Hut Attention! At your service madame Singh!

Alright, first I guess I owe everybody an explanation on my take. I have always been fascinated by what is called "nonsense poetry", made popular by Lewis Caroll. I really haven't researched much on this, but I am trying to master it through sheer instinct. What I basically understand of nonsense poetry is that it is an imaginative, and a very descriptive piece of fiction that tittilates and tanatalizes everyone's imaginations in their own individualistic manner. Thus, I am really really happy to see such a wide plethora of komments here. Maybe I am on the right track.

Ohhh! I love Klash.

Krishna, the flirtatious and bubbly God, swagat hai!

Welcome back, Sarang. Delighted to see you here.

Don't fret Shin! Komments are coming up...

Juhi said...

And here they are..

Mandappa: Excellent piece of literature. I can see the stage, and Romeo crooning on it, and I can see Her, beautiful and “sharif”, sorry umm…what’s the word for sharif in English? Oh yes! I guess, decent comes close! Very nicely executed. Although let me tell you, we girls hate these sorts who ruin, especially a wonderful theatre experience.

Sarang: Hahahaha...you have spectacularly caught the essence of this beautiful whispery sound and that too in 5 mere words.

Willy: Sorry, I forgot to mention you in my welcomes. A warm welcome with a bunch of balloons.
This is an extremely wonderful daydream, and during an exam too. C'est magnifique!

Kavish: My memory really has become quite bad. A warm welcome to you too, and would you like to have a bunch of periwinkles from my garden?
This is such a beautiful piece, dreamy and enchanting.

Psst..although I have been hearing about both of you for the past 2 weeks, and I really didn't realize that this was the first time that we were meeting.

Rush: Wow, you really set the pace and a little tension through your details and dialogue. It was so sweet.

Heady: Brings back memories! Nice take.

GSV: As usual GSV, you are at your poetic best.

Dok: Haha...wow. An entire life, through just a sound. This is really beautiful Dok saab. I especially like "the capital of France".

Krishna: Ek halki si awaz, jisme dharti ko jagaane aur zinda karne ki shakti ho! Wah!

Richa: Hahahaha...I recognize this conversation all too well. Though I must commend you on your firm stand, I usually give in, and how!

Nandini: The prods of your conscience, is it really this gentle. You are lucky, mine threatens to murder me!! Nice take.

Mickey the Monkey: A loving wife, and a wonderful friend. You certainly are one lucky monkey. Hahahaha...it was really nice, reminiscent of Othello, glad it had a different ending though ;) Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Priyanka: "Ab kar psst, psst.." this really tugs at the memorable past. Beautiful.

Coffee: Another interfering conscience. Nice take.

Konfessioner: I actually shivered at the last line, "Psst… I’m here".
It is a beautiful portrayal of the blend that is nature and art.

Hey! I actually did it. It reads "Juhi" now!! I swear I did not take anybody'd help.

Anyways, the VOTE. Do I really have to? Everybody has outdone themselves. This is tough!

I think, Sarang for sheer genius and a little cheating too ;)

Juhi,GSV - Hey looks like u guys r into Orkut a lot :-))
for html tags it goes like this < > so bold wud be not ....[] is the Orkut paranthesis :-))

(Sorry for sounding so "know it all" - but sinceI'd spent an entire afternoon a while back trying to understand html tags, a very IT challenf=ged me is just trying to "show off")

Sarang Mahajan said...

Nonsens: I deleted my first comment for the same reason, had spelled the tags Orkut way! [:D]

Sarang Mahajan said...

Richa: Hehehehe. Nice one. And the chocolate cake does not tempt only women. Death by chocolate will be my choice to die. A very creative take this one. Hehe. The chocolate things really psst you.

Nandini:It does not seem you were out of ideas at all. A very cool idea if you ask me. Your conscience pssts you and you don’t pay attention. It happens all the time. Very creative use of the word.

Mickey: Don’t you trust Mowgli, monkey. He might talk something else to Jane when you are asleep next time. I know him full well. And as for your take… yeh another fascinating incident from your life! :D

Priyanka: The one place where I have heard most pssts is a class witnessing an exam. Had I remembered it I would have written my take on that theme. Nicely written!

Coffee is my Poison: Why is coffee a poison to you? Are you a robot? :D Nice klash here. The inner mind speaking, suggesting. Very well worded.

Shinjini: As generally happens when I read your poetry, nothing registers in mind at the first go. I think it takes a habit and ‘that’ kind of sensibility to understand your kind of literature. I read this one, and got nothing, then started again from the top with an attentive mind, and found there is such a beautiful observation and imagery hidden in it.

Heady Concoction: Yeaa, the pains of childhood lie always forgotten when friends come calling.. :) Very heart touching..

Juhi the Fragrant: Like I told you earlier also..in the scrap..am coming to sip the chai with rai.. :) The nonsense poetry..is what I liked..and well..in ur explanation..you said ur inspiration was Lewin Carroll..one of my faves.. :)

Nandini Sen: The conscience gives me a lot of pain by whispering... :)) Nice one there..

Mickey the Monkey: Even urs was an apt use of the word Mickey..surprise parties always start with a lot of phusphusahat.. :)

Coffee is my poison: We do tend not to listen to our conscience so many times..isn't it?? :) Liked it.. :)

Konfessioner Singh: Spring's here..is it..? :) Loved it..as usual...beautiful..!!

So, with all the people (male community excluded) who are thinking of addressing me as Jeej, I must warn you that you are giving me unsurpassed (and irrerversible) powers to flirt around. Aakhir maa Baap ne kuchh soch kar hi mera naam rakha thaa. I now have to honor their wishes (:D).

For the others, I had kept one of my observations at bay until all of use had voted. Now that almost everybody has voted, I think I could safely put in my two cents.

I think what really appeals to one's heart should be (ideally) out of the purview of language. I therefore believe the author/writer should be of his/her own free will to enter what moves him/her. That said, the beauty of a democracy is the diversity of opinions.

Shukla said...

Also, one of the basic reasons I am NOT voting for Sarang's nuclear bomb is that I fear it may encourage people to compete with me in Laziness (in writing or even in reading). With malice towards one and all, I don't want to set a bad precedent, and hence Sarang loses my vote.

Shukla said...

Contd from earlier:
Dok Saab: A beautifully captured life story...May I ask if it has something to do with Dok Saab and Doktarain Sahiba.. Regardless can't think of voting for anyone else.

Richa Gupta: I still can't forget your poems on Fear and the Dentist, or the one with your friend - the dog outrunning you on a beach. So because of the standard that you have set up for yourself, I daresay this entry of yours is far from the best that you are capable of.

Nandini Sen: Beautiful reminders of how I keep on turning a deaf ear to my conscience, and how it keeps resurfacing. What kept you from my vote then was, well, our competitors for this week of Klash.

Mickey, the build up and the surprise in the entry came and went rather abruptly.

Priyanka: fantastic entry, brought back haunting memories from classrooms, and the principal who used to do this, and Charles Sir who used to do that, and how we always were ones who came out with a lifetime of beautiful set of experiences from being in class, doing the rounds of the field and making cartoons of the teachers, passing tags and, oh soooo muchh else...

Coffes is my Poison: I think yours is a truly beautiful work. Yet, the words, the garnishings, the number of issues covered in this entry could have been rearranged to make it the one to win my vote.

Konfessioner Singh: The only reason somebody else had my vote is that the entry is much more real life, from the mundane daily occurences that one has grown up with, and that, therefore is so much closer to the heart.

My vote goes with Dok Saab.

Sarang Mahajan said...

Sir, Indiguns: Ah, that’s a very noble reason why you aren’t voting me! My next Klash shall be at least six words long, just to make you toil hard reading it! And if you are accusing me of being a lazy reader, let me tell you I read your klash thrice and the words – “kopalon” and “aarunim” several times! 8-)

Willy Wingfoot Fantastic. If I were allowed two votes, here I'd give my second vote. Reminded me of all the adventure books I was so fond of...The Enchanted Tree in Enid Blyton Land...
Kavish Sinha A playful melange of words. Very colourful. And endearing.
Juhi the Fragrant actually I couldn't make out the ending of this poetic saga.
Richa Gupta Ha ha ha the same struggle I have with my pot of sugar crystals/cubes everyday!! And cakes and pastries and ice creams. But most of the time, the delicacies win hands down! Very aptly portrayed. Love it. Alas! the cake was disappointed at the end!
Nandini Sen Hey ur conscience was wrong this time. A great use of the word 'psst'.
Mickey the Monkey A wonderful rendition of emotional chaos in Mickey. Love the way it is written.
Priyanka Chakraborty This is the basic variety of 'psst' - the one most prevalent and widely utilised by our younger generation in the CLASSROOM. (Enlightened by the fantabulous collection of 'psst' usages posted in Klash, I can almost write a thesis on the word!)
Coffee is my poison A terrific poem. Have no words to Komment on it. (truly)
Konfessioner Singh Like Daffodils...lyrical, softly passionate, a magical vision spun by kaleidoscope of words

And...my vote goes to Doc Saab

Thank you Academy, for the honor!

I would like to thank my parents for their incessant support while I had locked myself for months in my room writing this klash. And to my editor, Ramanareshanaiyya Chinnappamurlitharan, who spent an enormous amount of effort proof-checking and editing the manuscript!

This one is for my great, great, great grandfather, whom I never had an honor of meeting (nor did my great grandfather have it). And to every Indian who read it and admired it to no extent!!

Thank you very, very much!!

P.s.: I shall now spend another string of months in my room thinking out the next word.

Sarang,
So, with all the international conspiracy and the bribing, treating people nicely that I did all so that nobody else could steal my crown of laziness, you still won (and that is with more than three votes to spare). I daresay I will keep looking forward to more of those bursts.

And by the way, the name indiguns has been stuck from a some other web forum several years ago when I was too wary of providing my real name. Now that I intend to keep coming back to clash, I would soon update it with "Krishna". That, following in the winner's footprints though, may require a few months of focused thinking and another few months of acting upon it... :D

Accha, where can we get a link to check out the Mundo in Robin??

Krishna Bhai: Actually you'll get that link nowhere, it's not on the web yet. But it shall be soon. I'll send you it in image format. And (curse, curse) Shinjini spelled it wrong. It is Robin Mondo.

And more of those bursts will land me far out of KnK. Hehe! I must spend months now thinking up another such burst!

Dok Saab: Thank you for the standing-on-the-chair ovation, Dok Saab! :)

@ Richa: Yeh, it was supposed to be so, but I was suggested that I should use it at the first possible opportunity, I may not get second! :D

@ Shinjini Hitler Singh !!
Now that the winner's name has been declared, and new word proposed, I have some grievances;

1) At least three people did not Komment/Vote (Willy, CIMP, and Rush.me).
What is your advice to them??
2) You have still not kommented upon my take :(
3) GSV ji klubbed me with DokSaab while kommenting even though our takes had nothing in kommon. I would have been satisfied with just "ha ha Monkey" written for me alone :(
